Rev. Mary Anderson
Assistant to the Lead Presbyter for Transformation
The Rev. Mary Anderson has been serving as an ordained pastor since 2003. Her pastoral journey began alongside her husband, Garrett, when they served together as co-pastors at Brick Presbyterian Church in Perry, New York. Since 2011, she has been a member of the Cayuga-Syracuse Presbytery, and one of her most formative calls was as pastor of Weedsport Presbyterian Church, where she served until 2020.
She lives in Liverpool with Garrett and their son, Sam, who is a music education major at Syracuse University. Outside of ministry, Rev. Anderson finds deep joy and renewal in the outdoors. Hiking, kayaking, birdwatching, and gardening are among her favorite pastimes, and she resonates deeply with the quote: “Spending time in nature softens everything and brings us closer to God,” which she has found to be true in her own life.
In addition to her pastoral education, Rev. Anderson received training in Spiritual Direction and Retreat Leadership during seminary through the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Center for Spirituality. Her Master of Divinity degree included a concentration in Spiritual Direction, reflecting her deep desire to walk alongside others as they listen for where God is moving in their lives.
Rev. Anderson is excited to begin her new role as Assistant to the Lead Presbyter for Transformation. She looks forward to collaborating with Greg and working alongside the churches and work groups within the Presbyteries as they seek faithful and imaginative ways forward together.
She welcomes prayers as she learns, grows, and steps into this new season of ministry. Thank you.
