From the Acting Stated Clerk March 21, 2024

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven…”

– Ecclesiastes 3:1

After a great deal of time spent in prayerful discernment, I have made the decision to not renew my contract as Acting Stated Clerk for the Presbytery of Cayuga-Syracuse. My last day with you as Acting Stated Clerk will be April 30, 2024. I let the Human Resources Committee know of my decision in late February, so that they could begin searching for someone that they can present to the Presbytery to be elected to serve as soon as possible.

As the Presbytery of Cayuga-Syracuse lives into the new structure, the staff and committee leaders have come to see that there are some adjustments that will need to be made to bylaws and policies to ensure that things can be truly “decent and in order”. These adjustments and edits will help the Presbytery be better equipped to serve more efficiently and effectively. Some of these edits will (hopefully) come to the Presbytery for approval at the May meeting.

It has been a delight to meet so many of you over these past few months. And, while our season together will be wrapping up in a few weeks, I take joy in knowing that I will still be your neighbor – both as a member of the Presbytery of Geneva (the Presbytery to your west) and as a sibling in faith.

With hope for the future,

Rev. Amy E. Loving-Austin

Acting Stated Clerk
