LINDA VAN BUSKIRK

ELDER (SCIPIOVILLE)

Linda Van Buskirk grew up on a farm in Scipio, joined the Scipioville Presbyterian Church when she was twelve years old, attended U of Rochester and University of Utah for her undergraduate degrees and the University of New Mexico for her Ph.D. in English literature.  Her teaching career took her to UCLA, SIU-Carbondale, King Saud University, Clarkson University, and for the final 28 years, Cornell’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, where she taught writing and gender communication courses in the Department of Communication (retired 2016).  She is active in politics, museum work, church work, and her garden.  Her greatest pleasures are walking in the woods near her home, riding her horse, reading as widely as possible, and visiting with her sons’ families in Arizona (too hot) and New Mexico (too windy).
